What is Mesothelioma?

There are different types of cancer and what I mostly heard of is breast cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, and prostate cancer. Then I learned recently that mesothelioma is also a serious cancer. This is the first time I heard of this word so what is mesothelioma? From what I have read, this is an asbestos-caused cancer of the membranes that surround many of the body’s vital organs. Simply stated, it is a serious cancer that occurs to individuals that are expose to asbestos. There are multiple forms of mesothelioma. The differences involve the location in which the tumor begins. The most common form is the pleural mesothelioma, where the cancer attacks the pleural tissue surrounding the lung. After knowing this I feel a bit scary because I know asbestos is dangerous but I didn’t know it causes cancer. I remember my Mom usually have asbestos at home to put on clothes but good thing I never uses it here. My hubby doesn’t want us to put it on clothes, as he doesn’t want the smell. So let this be a reminder to always be careful about the products we use. And for those who want more information about this disease, check here for further reading.
