Work Out in T-Shirts to Prevent Blemishes

There is no longer any debate that exercise is good for you. Studies have proven time and time again that working out and working up a sweat can improve your body’s shape and fitness, can boost your spirits, and make you more mentally focused. But what does raising your heart rate and working up a sweat do for your skin? It can cause breakouts, which feels unfair. You work so hard to maintain a good body shape and what does it give you? Pimples and other blemishes.

One way to avoid breakouts on the parts of your body that tend to retain the most sweat is to take a shower as soon as possible after your weight training or cardio kickboxing class. Your back, neck, shoulders, and chest release plenty of moisture during your high-impact movements, so the sooner you can wash it off the better. Especially if you workout in the morning before you shower. That means all the oil and particles that build up on your skin overnight are then mixed with sweat and rubbed into your skin. The friction cause by movement combined with the warmth make a perfect breeding ground for the bacteria and clogged pores that can cause blemishes.

Besides showering post-workout, try wearing loose fitting clothing, like T-shirts and baggy shorts. Workout apparel is often tight-fitting and can create more friction on your skin, or trap sweat in your pores. Sweat-wicking materials that are designed to keep you dry as you exercise are great. However, they can get expensive and if you can’t afford to spend that much cash on workout gear, then the loose fitting T-shirts, tanks, and shorts are the way to go. Your skin will thank you, and you will no longer have to sacrifice clear skin for toned muscles.
